How many people can claim to have tasted a cognac distilled at the turn of the last century?  Well this is your chance!  Our extra special 1900 Cognac Gift Set comprises a 20Cl bottle of 1900 cognac from the top cru and one of our exclusive Hermitage Cognacs tulip-shaped tasting glasses.  The Hermitage 1900 Grande Champagne was found in an old cellar, the owners of which ceased making cognac many years ago, so it really was a rare and exclusive find.

Additional Information

Aroma:
A hint of vine leaves and jasmine with green walnuts, cedar, mangosteen and dry spice aromas
Ageing:
Small cellars of medium dampness in 350 litre LImousin oak barrels.
Distillation:
Normal Charentais still, probably around 15 - 20 hltrs The stills were quite old and of traditional shape and quite likely to be coal or wood fired.
Flavour:
Initially one detects toast, a hint of liquorice and truffle but it develops with pear, kumquat and grapefruit peel all mixed with cloves, mushroom and ginger.
Grape Variety:
Ugni Blanc possibly some Folle Blanche

No reduction
Viticulture:
Many people say that the chalk here is more porous and allows the vines better penetration to the underground streams ultimately leading to high quality grapes.
