“Forest floor, freshly cut grass and citrusy notes on the nose. A silky palate of orchard florals, lemon rind and a final hint of rose jelly to finish. Wonderfully complex and hugely commendable.” Judges’ comments
This cognac comes from around Angeac in the west of Grande Champagne. It has been aged for fifty years and although it was probably made on a big still, it has many exciting oriental flavours. Notes of mangosteen, melon, medlar, cinnamon, roasted walnuts, honey and ginger can all be found.

- Reduction & Strength:
- Grande Champagne cognacs age very slowly and in many cases may never reduce to their optimum strength naturally. Distilled water is used to reduce these cognacs but the process of reduction can take many years
- Viticulture:
- In most of the cognac growing area the vines are now machine picked but these would have been picked by hand when the vines were harvested. Handpicked grapes can often provide greater variation in final flavour.
