With the On-Trade (hospitality industry) being allowed to re-open from 4 July, the problems that social distancing rules pose are being tackled in a variety of innovative ways. To help restaurants maintain social distancing a contactless tableside ordering service has been developed by three British entrepreneurs. ‘Creventa’ enables customers to view menus, order and pay at their tables with their phones. The absence of printed menus and card machines helps to minimise cross-contamination. Alan Lorrimer, founder of London venue The Piano Works and supporter of the UK Grand Outdoor Summer Café campaign, has called on the government to allow hospitality operators to use open spaces and squares outside their venues for food and drink service. Around the world there have been many other unusual social distancing techniques pioneered. These include wearing ‘swimming woggle hats’, dining under individual Perspex lamp shades and using mannequins and teddy bears to occupy particular seats! Unusual ways to enjoy your vintage brandies!

Brandyclassics News – Lots of New Vintages – Summer 2019
We are truly at the height of summer here in the UK. France has experienced extremes of weather again this year, but the growing season is going well. As ever DB has been searching out new cognacs for you to enjoy and recently, he added four new vintages to the Hermitage stable. From the top cru, Grande Champagne, comes Hermitage 1940 Cognac. A beautifully balanced amber nectar, with aromas of chestnuts and truffles, it was produced in the year Winston Churchill became British Prime Minister and ordered the Dunkirk Evacuation. Also from Grande Champagne comes Hermitage 1950 Cognac – a real joy to taste with flavours including plum crumble with a blood orange peel finish. Hermitage 1970 Fins Bois Cognac was harvested in the year Concorde made its first supersonic flight. It is rare to find cognacs from the Fins Bois in the Hermitage range but this one is really very special. And finally, our highly prized, much sought after Hermitage 1999 Grande Champagne Cognac has nearly run out but fortunately we have found an equally magnificent Hermitage 1995 Grande Champagne Cognac with which to replace it. Aged for a longer period, it has a greater complexity of flavours including butterscotch, cocoa, walnuts and baked apples. We are very excited by our latest find. It is rich and beautifully balanced, ..… you will not be disappointed.
We also continue to increase our range of vintage cognacs, armagnacs and calvados. Our stock now includes vintage brandies from every year from 1928 – 2002 & a few more besides. If you are looking for a specific year, just search on our website or give us a ring (01225 863988).
Brandyclassics News – Michelle Brachet Visits
It’s been a very busy start to the year with interesting cognac events in the diary and the arrival of yet more new stock. Following the BNIC’s launch of a new brand identity for the cognac appellation, they organised a trade-only Tasting event in London. Very well attended, our cognacs with age statements, under the Hermitage label, went down a storm. The event was hosted by Michelle Brachet, cognac expert and educator, who we thoroughly enjoyed hosting when she subsequently visited us in Wiltshire.
Another new Hermitage vintage cognac has just joined our handpicked range. It was distilled in 1948 and comes from the Grande Champagne cru. A remarkable cognac which will be very popular, especially as it is a celebratory vintage this year.
Our range of vintage brandies now includes a vintage from every single year from 1930 to 2000 so if you’re looking for something special do get in touch.
