Having been ennobled by King Louis XVIII in 1818, the Castarède family gave their company its name and coat of arms. In 1832, Castarède became the first declared armagnac trading House, just a few years before France became equipped with a railway and modern communication network. Six generations later they are still producing some of the best Bas Armagnacs available, including this Castarède 1986 Bas Armagnac.

- Flavour:
- Dried apples and angelica with a long finish of dried apricot.

- The climate is soft and humid with sunny autumns and the soil is made of siliceous clay which is poor in lime, giving Bas Armagnacs a lightness and fragrance with subtle tastes
