We were lucky in finding this cognac. It was in a 30 litre bonbonne and had been stored in an old cellar for many years. It is an exceedingly fine cognac from the period but regrettably the house no longer exists so this will be the last of this vintage from this house.

Additional Information
- Aroma:
- A most interesting cognac in the traditional style of the period. The aroma of grapefruit peel, angelica and thyme are combined with a delightful yeasty dough theme
- Ageing:
- The cellars were very old and quite damp. The barrels were Limousin oak 350 litre size and conditions would have been close to ideal
- Distillation:
- Double distillation in Charentaise 15 hectolitres stills
- Flavour:
- This is a really fine cognac displaying many characteristic qualities of the period. The flavour is on the dry side with oaky and bitter grapefruit flavours which one would expect to find from this area
- Grape Variety:
- Ugni Blanc
- Reduction & Strength:
- This is the last remaining quantity of this fine cognacs and is available at the natural strength of 45 degrees
- Viticulture:
- The area where this was made is close to the river Né. The chalk here is particularly porous and the vines grow well along this side of the river where their roots are said to penetrate up to thirty metres into the ground
